We’re incredibly proud to announce that our sophomore album, Death of My Youth, will be released on July 31.

This record has been a huge part of our lives over the last year. It’s a fully self-funded and independent album, produced by our very own Matt Clark, mixed by NZ’s own Chazz Valentine of Wired Studio (The Rabble, Flirting with Disaster), and mastered by Mike Kalajian at Rogue Planet Mastering (Papa Roach, All Time Low, A Day To Remember) in the U.S.

Death of My Youth is a step forward for us in every way. It still lives firmly in the pop-punk / alt-rock world, but this time we pushed harder into melody, emotion, dynamics, and songwriting. It’s an album about growing up, letting go, grief, confusion, acceptance, and trying to make peace with the person you used to be.

The record opens with “No Good” and closes with “See You Again”, taking you through ten tracks that were written to be heard from start to finish. We’ve already shared a few pieces of it through songs like “No Good,” “Crybaby,” “Radical Acceptance,” “Bad Dreams,” and “Until The Story Ends,” but the full album is where everything really comes together.

To celebrate the release, we’re also playing a special hometown album release show at Space Academy in Christchurch on Saturday, August 15.

This will be an all-ages show with an 18+ bar, and we’re bringing two awesome support acts with us:

Face First from Christchurch

This show means a lot to us. Christchurch is where this band started, where we launched our first album, and where so much of this story has unfolded. We wanted to make the album celebration something that everyone could be part of, especially younger fans who don’t always get access to rock shows in this city.

Sam has been part of The Rainfall since day one, helping shape the band’s identity, creating our music videos and album artwork, and backing us on tour.

But long before that, he’s been part of the Christchurch music scene.

Since 2004, Sam has played in local bands across indie, emo, post-hardcore and metalcore — on guitar, bass and synth — singing and screaming his way across stages for over two decades.

Now he officially joins The Rainfall on bass.

He brings experience. He brings musicianship. And he brings the creative drive that’s already helped build the world around this band.

Welcome to the Rainfall, Sam!

After three years in The Rainfall, Makka has decided to step away and focus on life outside the band. 

His dedication to his instrument, his infectious sense of humour, and his angel-like harmonies… (if you’ve seen us live, you know) have had a lasting impact on The Rainfall and everyone who’s supported us. Simply put, Makka has been foundational to this band from the very beginning.
